With what seemed like a stellar year for Aubrey "Drake" Graham, it would seem only fitting to have the young rap star perform at this years' BET Awards. Not only does Drake show out during his performance, but he also shows the world where his allegiance lies within the industry. It was assumed that with Drake bringing out Young Jeezy as a surprise guest they would perform their hit record from his album. On the contrary, the Jay-Z mentored duo decides to perform the (never heard before) remix to Young Jeezy's latest single, "Lose My Mind". During the song, Drake's words along with his apparel gives us a strong clue as to who is influencing him.
"All seeing eye, My eyes seen it all"
This is not too surprising, seeing as how Drake's family history is no stranger to the darker side of the music industry. Drake's father was Dennis Graham, a drummer for rock legend Jerry Lee Lewis.
Aside from being a famous rock musician, Jerry Lee Lewis was also a devout satanist. He (among many other rock artists at that time) believed his soul was possessed and that he had signed his name over to the Devil for fame (4:34 mark)
It also doesn't help that proven rumored rap satanist, Jay-Z, has taken the young emcee under his wing lately. He even provides a fatherly verse on Drake's song "Light Up", where he still takes time to mention that he is always "connected to a higher power". I'm sure as Drake's career progresses, so will his allegiance to the occult.
"I'm easily influenced by the n*ggas I'm around" - Drake
Open Your Mind,
